WBC heavyweight champ Vitali Klitschko defends his title on Saturday night against the best heavyweight in the world not named Klitschko: Tomasz Adamek. The bad news is that Adamek is another former light heavyweight/cruiserweight champ that will be giving up height (six inches), reach (five inches) and weight (30 pounds) to Klitschko.
The good news is that Adamek earned his title shot by facing - and beating - six full-fledged heavyweights in the past two years: Andrew Golota, Jason Estrada, Chris Arreola, Michael Grant, Vinny Maddalone and Kevin McBride. The best news is that Adamek fights to win rather than just to survive. He's got a sturdy chin and lots of heart so he's not afraid to take a punch in order to to land a punch. All of this is not to suggest that he's going to win the fight ... because Vitali also has a great chin and is perfectly willing to mix it up. What is does mean, however, is that this fight - for as long as it lasts - has a very good chance of being the most competitive and entertaining bout either Klitschko has had in years.
