Worst Ever Showing for U.S. Men's Olympic Boxing Team
Aug 15th 2012, 13:42

The 2012 London Olympics marked the first ever medal shutout for the U.S. men's Olympic boxing team. Nine men. No Gold. No Silver. No Bronze. Nothing.

The U.S. has won more medals in men's boxing - 48 Gold and 108 overall - than any other country ... but Andre Ward (2004) is the only U.S. man to win Olympic Gold since David Reid won Gold at Atlanta in 1996.

Hopefully, amateur boxing will undergo necessary and overdue changes prior to the 2016 Games in Rio. Such changes could include a pro-style scoring system and men fighting without headgear.
