Pacquiao Robbed! Judges Hand Bradley Split Decision
Jun 10th 2012, 04:08

There is no question in my mind that Manny Pacquiao outpointed Timothy Bradley by a wide margin. HBO's announcing team thought Pacquiao won. Harold Lederman scored the fight 119-109 for Pacquiao. ESPN.com had it 119-109 for Pacquiao. The Associated Press had Pacquiao winning 117-111. Punch stats favored Pacquiao by a wide margin (253-159 in total punches landed; 190-108 in power shots). The crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas thought Pacquiao. Promoter Bob Arum - who promotes both fighters - scored it 118-110 for Pacquiao.

Unfortunately, only three scorecards mattered and two of the judges were watching a different fight than everyone else. Judge Jerry Roth had it too close at 115-113 but at least he scored it for Pacquiao. The other two judges - Duane Ford and C.J. Ross - scored the fight 115-113 for Bradley. There were no knockdowns in the fight so Ford and Ross somehow each found seven rounds to give to Bradley. Unbelievable. Unconscionable.
