Wladimir Klitschko KOs Tony Thompson … Again
Jul 10th 2012, 02:16

WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko retained his belts with a sixth-round TKO of Tony Thompson in one of the most pointless title rematches in boxing history. In 2008, Klitschko stopped Thompson in round eleven in a bout that was never competitive. There was no remotely reasonable scenario in which the rematch would end any differently ... and it didn't. Klitschko dropped Thompson with a great left-right combo late in round five and finished him off with a series of clubbing power shots late in round six.

Punch Stats: Total punches: Klitschko - 51 of 121 (42%), Thompson - 25 of 183 (14%); Power shots: Klitschko - 36 of 65 (55%), Thompson - 7 of 56 (12%); Jabs: Klitschko - 15 of 56 (27%), Thompson - 18 of 127 (14%).

It's uncertain who's next up for Wladimir Klitschko. Fight fans just hope there are no more rematches ... for either brother. That's right. If you've already lost to either one of the Klitschko brothers, go to the end of the line. No more recycled opponents. It's time to find out if any of the up and coming heavyweights - yes, there are up and coming heavyweights - can challenge the current kings of the division.
