Who Is Michael Spinks:
Michael Spinks represented the United States as a middleweight boxer in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and won the Gold medal. He and Leon Spinks became the first brothers to win Gold medals in the same sport at the same Olympics.

As a pro, Michael became the first light heavyweight champion to capture the heavyweight title when he outpointed Larry Holmes - who was trying to tie Rocky Marciano's 49-0 record - in 1985. Spinks' final bout was in 1988 when he was knocked out in 91 seconds by Mike Tyson. After his first and only loss, Spinks retired with a record of 31-1 with 21 KOs.

Where Is Michael Spinks Now:
Spinks is the rare world class fighter who left the sport with money and his health and was never lured back into the ring. Spinks was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1994 but remains nearly invisible on the boxing scene these days.

The intensely private Spinks lives in a seven-bedroom house - not including the guest house - on a secluded five-acre spread outside Wilmington, Delaware. He remains close with his former promoter, Butch Lewis. On the rare occasions that Spinks is seen in public, it's typically at an event that Lewis is promoting.
