On Saturday night, Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez will meet in Las Vegas (and on HBO pay-per-view) for the fourth time. They battled to a split draw in 2004 and Pacquiao was awarded close - controversial - majority decisions in 2008 and 2011. The trilogy ranks among the greatest in the boxing history ... so why is it so hard to get excited about the fourth meeting between these two future Hall of Famers?
Two reasons. One: We've already seen 36 rounds of this rivalry and the outcome is likely to be no different this time around. Another twelve rounds of good action followed by another close decision that will leave one fighter - and his fans - feeling like they got robbed. Two: As much as this fight matches up two of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, it's still a very distant second - at best - in terms of the Pacquaio fight that everyone wants to see. The window on a bout between Pacquaio and Mayweather while they're still remotely near their respective peaks is closing rapidly and Pacquiao-Marquez IV further decreased the likelihood of that fight ever taking place.
Who do you think will win? Pacquiao or Marquez? Vote in our poll.
