Haye Destroys Chisora in Five
Jul 15th 2012, 18:40

In a meeting of self-promoting heavyweight idiots coming off one-sided losses to a Klitschko, David Haye came out of a bogus "retirement" to score a legitimately impressive fifth round TKO over Dereck Chisora. Haye was too fast, too elusive and too busy for Chisora, who didn't throw many punches ... and the ones he did throw were wild and amateurish. Haye dropped Chisora with a left-right late in round five. Chisora beat the count but was dropped by a great left-right left-right combination. Chisora again beat the count but referee Luis Pabon (who happens to be an atrocious referee) decided Chisora was done and stopped the fight.

Punch stats: Total Punches: Haye - 63 of 249 (25%), Chisora - 33 of 144 (23%); Power Shots: Haye - 51 of 142 (36%); Chisora - 21 of 99 (21%); Jabs: Haye - 12 of 107 (11%), Chisora - 12 of 45 (27%).

To their credit, five months after brawling at the post-fight press conference following Chisora's loss to Vitali Klitschko, both fighters demonstrated sportsmanship and mutual respect after the fight.

Haye is already calling out Vitali Klitschko, but his shameful performance against Wladimir Klitschko is still too fresh in the mind. Haye should be forced to score at least two more impressive wins - against top-level competition - before he's awarded another title shot.
