Wladimir Klitschko would defend his titles against 39-year-old former cruiserweight champ
Jean-Marc Mormeck, it sounded like a one-sided waste of everyone's time. In the ring, it was actually much worse than expected. Mormeck gave one of the worst efforts in heavyweight title history ... as bad as any of the frightened opponents that froze up in front of
Mike Tyson during Iron Mike's prime. Mormeck was dropped by a right hand in round two and finished off by a left-right combination in round four. Others have been stopped faster, but no one has ever done less than Mormeck while waiting to be knocked out. The Frenchman's punch stats by round were 0-2, 1-5, 2-8 and 0-4. That's right, a total of 19 punches thrown, with only three landing -- none of them the least bit effective. Klitschko, meanwhile, was landing 39 of 135 punches en route to the 50th KO of his professional career.
The Klitschkos have effectively cleaned out a pathetic heavyweight division and there are no worthwhile challengers on the horizon. Unfortunately for fight fans, it has reached the point that the only adversaries that are likely to test either brother are age, injury and boredom.
