Floyd Mayweather Jr. is facing possible jail time today when he faces a judge on misdemeanor charges that he threatened two security guards in front of his home in a gated community outside Las Vegas. The alleged incident took place in October 2010 and Mayweather has pleaded not guilty.
The guards claim that Mayweather berated them for touching his cars (which were parked in violation of homeowner association rules) and told them, "my homies have guns, if you want me to call them they'd come over here and take care of you." Nice.
If he is found guilty, Mayweather could face up to a year in jail and $2,000 in fines ... but that will never happen because he is rich and famous.
Mayweather has assorted other legal issues pending, including felony charges from a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend and two of their children. A conviction in that case could land Mayweather in jail long enough to end his boxing career. Again, Mayweather can afford good lawyers and is unlikely to spend any time behind bars.
Is it any wonder that the majority of fight fans who buy a Floyd Mayweather fight do so to root for his opponent to knock him out? No matter who that opponent is . . .
