How bad was the decision in last week's Paul Williams-Erislandy Lara junior middleweight bout? Bad enough for the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board to take the almost unprecedented action of indefinitely suspending all three judges who worked the fight.
The Board - claiming not to have the legal authority to invalidate the official result - did not overturn the controversial majority decision that was unjustly awarded to a battered and beaten Williams, so justice has still not been done. Nevertheless, fight fans can at least be assured that judges Hilton Whitaker (115-114), Don Givens (116-114) and Al Bennett (114-114) will not be at ringside again for a long time, if ever.
